Subsidizing low farm prices
Re: "Texas farms suffer from labor crisis – U.S. immigration policy is bringing dangerous consequences, says J Carnes," Monday Viewpoints.
I wish Mr. Carnes the best of luck with his produce business, but he needs to figure out a way to run it using U.S. citizens. His "common-sense solutions" may make his life easier but the rest of us have to put up with the problems brought by illegal aliens and subsidizing the slave wages he pays. The problems he mentions are temporary ones brought about by going from illegal to legal labor.
He may make less money, but does he really expect the rest of us to suffer?

Do fence me in
Re: "Border fence challenge rebuffed – Justices refuse to hear case questioning laws' waiver to speed project," Tuesday news story.
I know the protection of endangered animals is a major concern, but I feel like the protection of the U.S. citizens is more important. I feel safer with the border fence in place than without the fence. We need to keep people from crossing the border illegally. Our main concern should be the protection of the American people.
