AUSTIN, Texas (KXAN) -- Austin Police are investigating Austin's 12th homicide of the year.
34-year-old Paul Cabello Dominguez was gunned down in the parking lot of some apartments located on Harvey Street. Now, police want to know who shot and killed him.
Officers were called to the Elm Ridge Apartments around one o'clock Thursday morning. Instead of just a disturbance, they found Dominguez already dead.
Police say their biggest lead right now is information that four men were seen running away just moments after the shots were fired.
While detectives are looking for a killer, those who live in the apartments are more concerned about their safety.
"At first I thought I was dreaming when I heard it on the news, but I was like 'no, somebody did get murdered over here,'" said Chardonnay Powell, a resident at Elm Ridge Apartments. "That makes me want to move, cause I don't feel safe in my home."
Officers are looking for any potential witnesses and are urging those who may have seen something to come forward.
They said they aren't worried about anyone's immigration status. They are simply trying to find out how this man died.
If you have any information on this crime, you're urged to call the Austin Police Department at 512-477-3588. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information.
This is the same apartment complex where Kevin Brown was shot and killed by now former Austin police officer Mike Olsen last year. Brown had run from police after a fight outside Chester's Nightclub.
