Man Accused Of Sexually Assaulting 72-Year-Old

HOUSTON -- A man has been accused of sexually assaulting a 72-year-old woman in her north Harris County home, KPRC Local 2 reported.

Harris County sheriff's deputies said David William Ponce-Rivera startled the woman as she repaired a chair inside her home in the 13000 block of Courrege Lane near Hill Road at about 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Investigators said Ponce-Rivera grabbed the woman, dragged her into a hallway and sexually assaulted her.

Ponce-Rivera escaped the home through a garage door that was left open after the woman had worked in her yard, officials said.

The woman told detectives that she saw her attacker earlier in the week. She said he had been doing construction work and lived in a nearby house.

Deputies said they searched Ponce-Rivera's home and found him hiding under a blanket in a bedroom.

The woman positively identified Ponce-Rivera in a photo line-up. He was charged with burglary of a residence to commit sexual assault. He was not granted bond and has an immigration hold pending trial.
