Operation Community Shield Results In 44 Arrests In Corpus Christi

CORPUS CHRISTI-Police and immigration and customs enforcement agents arrested 44 people they described as violent offenders. Those arrests were part of Operation Community Shield.
The operation took place in eight cities throughout southeast Texas.
According to ICE agents, a total 149 gang members were arrested. Of the 44 people arrested here in Corpus Christi, KRIS 6 News learned that 30 were gang members.
The six-day operation started last Monday and ended Saturday night.
CCPD Captain Wayne Tisdale told 6 News, "These were ultra violent gang members that were involved and in some instances we hope there is an impact and a reduction in crime in Corpus Christi."
