$23,000 seized at Rio Grande City bridge

Thursday, July 17, 2008 at 1:25 p.m.

Authorities seized $23,000 from a woman walking from Rio Grande City to the Tamaulipas border city of Camargo.

Officials told Action 4 News that the 41-year-old woman is a Mexican national from Camargo.

The woman allegedly tried to hide the money and failed to declare when crossing into Mexico.

Federal law requires anyone entering Mexico with more than $10,000 in cash to declare the currency.

The woman has been set free pending an investigation by U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement.
