Washington Murder Suspect Found At El Paso Port Of Entry

EL PASO, Texas -- Salvador Nava Alvarez, 26, is wanted in Yakima, Wash., on an outstanding arrest warrant on a charge of first-degree murder, but was arrested at the Paso del Norte international border crossing in El Paso Sunday morning.

Alvarez was attempting to cross the pedestrian inspection area at the downtown port of entry, said CBP officers.

U.S. Custom and Border Protection officers arrested Alvarez after he had declared his U.S. citizenship.

CBP officers discovered that he was wanted by the Yakima Police Department on a charge of first-degree murder.

Alvarez was taken into custody and turned over to the El Paso Police Department before being into the El Paso County Jail to await extradition.
