Aug. 8, 2008
U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested an undocumented immigrant from Mexico near Falfurrias. Records checks revealed the person was arrested and convicted in Marietta, Ga. for armed robbery and the hijacking of a motor vehicle. The subject told authorities he was a member of the Sureno 13 gang.

Aug. 12, 2008
Border Patrol agents arrested a person illegally in the U.S. without immigration documentation from Mexico who admitted to being a member of the Mexican Mafia gang.

Aug. 13, 2008
Border Patrol agent seized 1,293 pounds of marijuana valued at $1.03 million and a 1994 Freightliner tractor-trailer at the Falfurrias Station checkpoint. A man presented the tractor-trailer for inspection and a service dog detected drugs in the trailer. Further inspection of the trailer revealed the marijuana hidden in a false compartment inside the vehicle.

Agents also seized a 1994 Ford Aerostar van with 1,271 pounds of marijuana valued at $1.01 million inside. The vehicle was found abandoned near the Rio Grande. The driver was not found.
