Local Fugitives Believed To Be Border Hopping

Eight fugitives in our Fugitive File are still on the loose while 20 have been caught so far this year.

Amarillo Crime Stoppers hopes you can help them add to that number.

Due to the seriousness of the crimes he is accused of, Amarillo police want this week's fugitive off the streets as soon as possible.

Take a close look at Martin Urias Rodriguez.

He is wanted by Potter County for aggravated assault of a child and two counts of indecency with a child, sexual contact.

Rodriguez, an illegal alien, has had a brush with the law before. He was arrested last year.

Corporal Brian Thomas of the Amarillo Police Department says it was "something to do with domestic violence and they found out he was undocumented and he was deported back to Mexico."

Police believe he may be going back and forth across the border. Thomas says even "if someone has contact with him in Mexico, that may be enough to work with marshals down there to get him picked up."

Another fugitive recently featured is also believed to be going to and from Mexico.

Tomas Romero is wanted out of Potter County for homicide. But he may have been killed in Mexico.

Thomas says, "information on that, even if there is no arrest, we still need it so the detectives can clear out that case as well."

If you have any information on any of the other fugitives, you are asked to call Amarillo Crime Stoppers at 374-4400. Information leading to an arrest could make you $300 richer.
